When trying to understand the many rules of golf, it is important to begin with one rule and go from there. For the purposes of this information, we will stick with the rules of teeing the ball. When a player’s ball is to be teed within the teeing ground, it must be placed on:
• the surface of the teeing ground, including an irregularity of surface (whether or not created by the player), or
• a tee placed in or on the surface of the teeing ground, or
• sand or other natural substance placed on the surface of the teeing ground.
A player may stand outside of the teeing ground to play a ball within it. In teeing, if a player uses a non-conforming tee or any other object to raise the ball off the ground, he is disqualified. This is a very important point to remember, and golfers, particularly beginners, should make themselves aware of it.
Another important point to remember is that before a player makes his first stroke with any ball on the teeing ground of the hole being played, the tee-markers are deemed to be fixed. In other words, if the player moves or allows to be moved a tee-marker for the purpose of avoiding interference with his stance, the area of his intended swing or his line of play, he gets the penalty for a breach of Rule 13-2.
If a ball, when not in play, falls off a tee or is knocked off a tee by the player who is addressing it, it may be re-teed without any type of penalty. However, if a stroke is made at the ball in these circumstances, whether the ball is moving or not, the stroke counts but again, there is no penalty.
If someone is playing from outside the teeing ground, and if that player, when starting a hole, plays a ball from outside the teeing ground there is no penalty. The opponent, however, may immediately require the player to cancel the stroke and play a ball from within the teeing ground.
It is quite easy to see that understanding the intricacies of the rules of golf can be quite complicated. If you are truly dedicated to learning them, however, you should have no difficulty if you simply take the time to apply yourself to learning them. Remember to take things one step at a time, and you should master the rules in less time than you might imagine.

Finally learn the very same technique and strategies the THOUSANDS of other who are breaking 80 on a regular basis use to leave their playing partners saying ” I wish I could do that!” Do you play golf 2-4 times/month and have never broken 90 or even 80? You can’t work the ball (fade, draw, general trajectory)? Do you have at least 3 or 4 three putts per round? Do you rarely hit greens in regulation? Do you make a birdie once in a blue moon? Do you really know where the ball is going when you swing (hit and hope)? Are you a more advanced player and typically shoot in the low or mid 80’s frequently but can’t break 80? My program has helped over 13,000 golfers around the world at all skill levels. Get the correct fundamentals as I teach them to you. I also provide details on more than just technical and mental aspects of the game.
